Variable title: French Theater WorkshopThis introduction to French/Francophone Studies course will transform you from a reader to an interpreter, using both classic analysis and the power of performance. Imagine yourself embodying the works of nine renowned Francophone authors, bringing their stories to life in a theater workshop setting. By analyzing and performing these works, you will not only improve your French language skills but gain a better understanding of French/Francophone literary history. Regular discussions, written assignments, and plenty of in-class theater exercises will equip you with the tools to express yourself in French, both onstage and off. This is your chance to step into the shoes of Francophone writers and become a storyteller – in French! Authors students will interpret include Ndiaye, Molière, La Fontaine, Diouf, Baudelaire, Camus, Beckett, Montaigne, and Sarraute.
