Stephen H. Petersen, B.A., 1967 (French), M.S., 1969, Ed.D., 1977, is former associate vice president of student affairs and dean of students at the University of Memphis and in 2007 was named assistant vice chancellor for alumni relations by Washington University in St. Louis. He lives in Grover, Mo.

During her career, Janice M. Morgan, who earned three degrees in French (B.A., 1973, M.A., 1975, Ph.D., 1982), served as a college professor and administrator in Kentucky. She has written articles about social issues in French-speaking cinema, publishing in journals such as The French Review, Cinema Journal, and the Quarterly Review of Film and Video. Her memoir, Suspended Sentence, was published in October by She Writes Press. As a result of her family’s experiences, she now advocates for better mental health awareness, substance abuse recovery, and criminal justice reform. Sarah E. Freeman, B.A., 1994 (French and Psychology), J.D., 1997, of Indianapolis, has been appointed chair of the subcommittee on education and research at the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Freeman serves on the boards of many organizations involved in the utilities industry, including the Organization of MISO (Midcontinent Independent System Operator) States and the Universal Service Administrative Company. She previously represented the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on the board of directors of the Organization of PJM (previously Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland) States Inc.

Lucas N. White, B.A., 2003 (Italian and Philosophy), J.D., 2006, president of the Fountain Trust Company of Covington, Ind., has been elected 2020 chairman of the board of directors of the Indiana Bankers Association. He previously served the IBA as first vice chairman and became chairman effective January 1. White is a director of the Independent Community Bankers of America and chairman of the ICBA Bank Services Committee. He has served the IBA as past president of the future leadership division and on the IBA board in the capacity of FLD president, as well as second vice chairman. He lives in Covington.

Erin Edgington, M.A., 2010, Ph.D., 2013 (French Literature) has been appointed Associate Dean of the newly established Honors College at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Assistant Professor of French at UNR. She describes her work in the Honors College as “making honors education ever more accessible and more equitable for Nevada students and teaching and mentoring some of the state’s best and brightest young minds,” and she is also excited about her position in French. “As I rejoin some old friends and mentors in the Department of World Languages and Literatures, I also gain many dynamic new colleagues who have helped to make the department one of the most innovative and well-regarded units in the College of Liberal Arts.”

Carlotta Paltrinieri (Ph.D., 2018), currently serving as Assistant Director of the Medici Archive Project in Florence, has just accepted a position as Senior Researcher for the program “Towards a National Collection” funded by the United Kingdom’s Arts and Humanities Research Council.
