Nearly every type of cuisine can be found in Bloomington. There are some great pizza places, such as King Dough and Mother Bear’s, as well as local delivery options such as Aver’s Pizza and Pizza X. You’ll find restaurants featuring Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Moroccan, Tibetan, and Thai cuisine.
There are Indian, Afghan, Turkish, Algerian, Eritrean, French, Italian, Cajun, and Mexican eateries, too, as well as great barbeque, bistros, hamburger joints, chocolatiers, bakeries, bagel shops, and ice cream. Le Petit Café offers a taste of French flavor. Local and organic ingredients are used in restaurants such as FARM Bloomington, Feast Cellar, and Oona. Vegan eaters enjoy The Owlery, and Rainbow Bakery is a sweet gathering place. Food trucks are an option for delicious fast food.
The Irish Lion is a traditional pub serving Irish stew and yards of Guinness. Two microbreweries, Upland Brewery and Bloomington Brewing Company, offer menus to complement the beer. If you want drinks with friends, try Atlas, Nick’s English Hut, or the local distillery, Cardinal Spirits. Nick’s, Michael’s Uptown Café, Coaches, and Kilroy’s Sports Bar are favorite spots for watching a game, or for mingling with both townies and students.
Great local coffee houses, such as Soma and Hopscotch Coffee keep the city buzzing. A food co-op, Bloomingfoods Market and Deli, has locations near the square and on the East side near College Mall. Popular retail chains and supermarkets are also accessible on the eastern and western edges of town.
