In odd-numbered years, our graduate students organize a scholarly colloquium that takes place on campus over a two-day period. Recent themes have included “Crossing borders, breaking walls” and “Transformation: Cause and effect.” Three keynote speakers are invited to campus, one in each of our doctoral fields of study: French/Francophone Studies, French Linguistics, and Italian Studies.
Organizing the colloquium is a great experience for our Graduate Student Organization leaders, building professional skills they are sure to use in the future. In addition, the colloquium is a great benefit to all students who give papers, as it’s a friendly, local venue to practice scholarly exchange.
