Maria supervises the other office staff, serves as an assistant to the chair, and serves as fiscal delegate, working with the department’s Fiscal Officer to support the annual budget process and ensure timely completion of financial transactions for the department (responsible for accounts and payroll). She is responsible for class scheduling, facilitating guest speaker visits, coordination of faculty tenure and promotion dossiers, and the development of office policies. She also serves as data supervisor for student information and as fiscal approver for all human resources operations. She coordinates faculty recruitment efforts and serves as the department's building representative.

Miki addresses graduate student concerns such as steps toward degree completion, M.A. and Ph.D. eDocs, registration requirements, fellowship applications, and travel grant applications. She also administers the graduate recruitment and admissions process and help coordinate graduate student orientation. Graduate students in the Department are supported by the Graduate Student Services Coordinator throughout their time at IU, and graduate students in other departments also contact her as a starting point for inquiries about PhD minors and language proficiency.

The Faculty and Undergraduate Services Coordinator is responsible for textbook ordering and distribution of desk copies to AIs. They also handle correspondence with donors, coordinates faculty travel funding, and prepares online course descriptions. Additionally, they handle undergraduate procedures such as special credit and registration permissions and manages the Department's social media presence.

Amanda Lueck

Amanda is one of the advisors for French and Italian undergraduates who advises students interested in a French or Italian major, minor, or certificate, in coordination with our directors of undergraduate studies. She helps French and Italian majors track progress toward the degree and make sure they fulfill departmental as well as College and university requirements. Amanda’s educational background is in Folklore and Ethnomusicology.
