Italian honors program

Italian honors program

Honors students beginning their language study may choose the accelerated elementary course in Italian, M115. Students planning to earn an honors degree in Italian are expected to enroll in M499, “Reading for Honors,” and to prepare an honors thesis during the senior year.

Honors students are strongly encouraged to study overseas, and credit may be earned for intensive study or research projects done abroad. Interested students should also contact the Office of Overseas Studies.

The Hutton Honors College offers International Experience grants to encourage study and service abroad. Students with strong research proposals are encouraged to enter the competition for research grants also offered through the Honors College.

Because of our belief that honors students have distinct needs that are best met through ongoing dialogue with faculty mentors, they may participate in designing some aspects of their curriculum. If you are interested in earning an honors designation with your Italian B.A. degree, contact Professor Colleen Ryan.
