Prerequisite: FRIT-F 250 or FRIT-F 265 or appropriate placement test score.
Intensive study of French grammar that builds upon foundational knowledge of French grammar, allowing intermediate students to develop both a sophisticated command of advanced structures and an understanding of the contexts for their use (e.g. formal vs. informal communication, speech vs. writing).
We will use a variety of texts (excerpts, short stories, plays) and media (movies, songs, recordings) to practice using these structures in all four core language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). We will additionally compare and contrast different sentence structures to better understand why those structures function differently. By the end of the semester, students will be more confident using a wider range grammar structures in all of those skills with an understanding of how these forms may differ in different speech styles (e.g. formal and informal) and language usage contexts (e.g. speech and writing).FRIT-F 313 #11508 (3) MW 9:35 A- 10:50 A Prof Jeffrey Lamontagne
