Before moving to Bloomington, Corentin completed his undergrad with a major in English (Université Paris-Est Créteil, 2015), and then pursed an M.A. in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (Université Paris Descartes, 2019). After completing an M.A. in French Linguistics (Indiana University, 2022), he is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in French Linguistics. His research interests center around phonological variation, specifically interfaces between phonology and other subfields of linguistics (e.g. phonetics, morphology) and phonology and sociolinguistics (e.g. diglossia, sociolinguistic factors in language change). He also works on second language acquisition of phonology, and he is particularly interested in the influence of contact in grammars. His dissertation uses Verlan, a French language game and slang, to test several processes of French phonology, but also how they interact with register. Corentin also works as an instructor in the Department of French and Italian, and he enjoys teaching both linguistics and language. In his free time, he loves sports, travelling and spending time with his friends.
