About Laura Demsey

Laura Demsey has an M.A. in French Linguistics (Indiana University, 2015) and a B.A. in French with Honors in Linguistics (Binghamton University, 2010). She is a Ph.D. candidate in French Linguistics, with minors in Second Language Studies and general Linguistics. Her dissertation examines the influence of English on the grammar of French in the American region of New England, where the Quebec-descended francophone population is largely English-dominant. Her other research interests include language acquisition and attrition, other North American French varieties, and language pedagogy. In her free time, she enjoys participating in the IU All-Campus Band and Chorus, and sampling Bloomington's Thai and Korean restaurants.
