Leonardo has a B.A. in Film Studies (University of Bologna, 2008) and an M.A. in Cinema, Television and Multimedia Production (University of Bologna, 2015) as well as an M.A. in Italian Studies (Indiana University, 2017). His interests include the history and methodology of film criticism, cinephilia and seriephilia; Italian television (especially during the 1980s); and contemporary American television and film comedies. His dissertation focuses on the impact of Italian state TV (RAI) on the dissemination of a film culture and a new cinephilia between 1975 and 1990. Leonardo is also interested in the history of Italian popular music and subcultures, especially the punk-rock scenes of the 1980s and 1990s.
