Kelly has a B.A. in Anthropology (University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, 2004), and an M.A. in Romance Languages (University of Missouri-Kansas City, 2012). Her research interests include sociolinguistics, language variation, and language contact, and her Ph.D. dissertation is entitled "Mapping the functional distribution of human impersonal uses of on, ça, and ils in French."
